Wednesday Night Training Routes - suggested route from Derek Parker

TRAINING ROUTE TWO:

(map of the route to come)

This route starts at the cycle path at Elderslie, opposite Elderslie baths.

Follow the path as far as the Pencil Monument then turn right across the by-pass bridge towards Linwood.

Continue along the cycle path, past the ID Hospital and St Benedict's High School on the left, towards Brookfield. Pass Brookfield on the left and continue to Bridge of Weir.

Come off the cycle path (first left egress through the first overhead bridge in the village).

Turn right into Main Road then right again into Prieston Road. Continue up the steep hill towards the cross roads. Turn left up another hill at Lawmarnock Road and continue out into the open countryside.

Ranfurly Castle and Old Ranfurly golf course are on the left. Pass Low Auchensale Farm on the right, cross the bridge over the Locher Burn and continue towards the Barniagh cross roads where one road crosses a cattle grid on the right. Another turns left.

Follow the road on the left, then turn left at the next junction and you will be on the final section of the David Cummings trail. Follow this road right down to the Kilbarchan-Bridge of Weir road then turn right downhill into Kilbarchan.

Continue downhill past Kilbarchan Steeple on your left then turn right at the foot of the hill (at the war memorial) into Station Road on your right.

Continue as far as the old railway bridge where you rejoin the cycle path on the left.

Turn left on the path back towards Johnstone. Cross the main road at Morrisons and continue along the cycle path to Elderslie where the run ends.

THIS  ROUTE IS ABOUT 10 TO 11 MILES.

Any comments about these routes should be made to Derek Parker, the club coaching adviser
