Jim Ogilvie's Boys Group Training Route -  Sun 15 March 2009

Trip Story
This route is known as the Marshall Moor Race run annually by kilbarchan athletics club. Starting at the fountain in Kilbarchan Park and ending there. There are a few rules of  this race. The way you go up to the top of the moor at the  halfway point you must not come back down the same way. You must not run down roads although there are a couple of  times you have to get from one field to another passing  over the road.

There are all sorts of obstacles you have to  deal with on route, electric fences which on this run Stuart  thought they were off only to get a jolt from one. Barbed  wire fences, gates, streams, lots of jaggy bushes, rampaging  bullocks, sinking mud a lot of and smelly bog which I just  had to fall in. Going through one field Michael who had ran 20 miles earlier that morning was not to sure about how close the horses were keeping an eye on him and trying to  get away from them quickly David lost his shoe in the mud.

Well he says it was mud but I'm not so sure. There was also a few cuts as well. This run was  just for fun as the race is only open to the more senior athletes for obvious reasons, but boys just loved it and cant wait till there older to compete in this race. What was funny was Stuart turning up in his brand new shiney white trainers. Just as well he changed them. We will certainly be doing this run again.
