Kilbarchan Amateur Athletic Club had a number of winners and other medal winners at the Scottish Closed Championships and West District Championships at Meadowbank at the weekend.

 

The Gibson family from Johnstone, were in top form, both winning Scottish Closed titles, with Claire taking the Women's 400m in 55.33s and brother Andrew smashing his Personal Best in winning the men's 1500m in 3.55.84.

 

Craig Fleming, a member of Harrow, but who competes for Kilbarchan in the Men's League, won the 200m in a club best of 21.65s. Craig was also 3rd in the 100m.

 

Other Scottish Closed Championships medallists included ..

Holly Belch was 2nd in the 100mHurdles in a PB of 14.80s and 2nd in the 400m Hurdles in 64.60s while in the men's 400m Hurdles, Martin Lipton was 2nd in 53.44s. David Watson and Cameron Clark were in good form in the triple Jump, finishing 2nd and third respectively with clearances of 14.46m and 13.99m, the latter being a PB for Cameron. There was also a Silver Medal for Andrew Dawkins 2nd in the Shot with 14.62m and also notable was a club under 20s record for Natalie Sharp, just 17,  in the Senior 1500m with a time of 4.35.42.

 

In the West District Championships, also at Meadowbank, Andrew McLaughlan was a double winner in u17s events. Andrew threw a PB of 47.41 for the Hammer and won the Shot with 13.30m.

Callum Hawkins also set a PB in winning the u17s 3000m in 9.02.66. Judith McNicol was another winner, taking the West u17s 300m Hurdles title in 50.64s.

 

In the under 15 boys category, David Kerr won the 400m in 54.84s and it was a PB for Jack Lochans who won the 80m Hurdles in 13.11 seconds. Other medallists included  ....

Elsewhere, Paul Arcari won the Strathkinnis 4.5 mile Road race last week in a course record of 23.15 and followed that by winning the Penicuik 10K Road race on Saturday, in 32.25.

 

Kilbarchan Athletic Club had a number of young athletes competing in the Ben Lomond Junior races and best placed was Jessica Martin, 2nd in the under 19s race in 33.57.
