Report by Arthur Smith .... Kilbarchan harrier Robert Quinn, continued his recent good form when he won the Scottish Masters Cross Country Championship at Irvine last Saturday. Robert, the 4 times winner of the Scottish Senior title and winner of various other International honours in past years, has had to overcome various injury problems in recent times but a superb work ethic and great determination has got him back to the top of the sport in the Masters category. For men the age minimum has recently been lowered from 40 to 35 so Robert, at 42, was giving away a number of years to many younger quality athletes but he proved to be the best on the day.
Kilbarchan were 3rd team on the day, winning Bronze medals and supporting Robert were James Snodgrass, 20th, Donald Petrie 34th and John McMillan 41st. There was also a Bronze medal for Dave Mewse, 95th overall but 3rd in the over 55s category |
