The Renfrewshire Road Race Championships were staged at a windy Battery Park, Greenock at the weekend where Kilbarchan athletes achieved a number of successes, winning several individual and team medals.

 

Ross Toole, running well over distance, chased Inverclyde's Mark Pollard all the way in the Men’s 5mile Road Race, finishing an excellent 2nd in 25 minutes 13 seconds, with a fine run from Paul Leck for 4th place, 1st u20. Kilbarchan were 3rd in the team race, behind Inverclyde AC and Bellahouston Road Runners

 

Kilbarchan Ladies also third in their team race with counting runners Christina Rankin who was first under 20, Lynsey Curran and Lorraine Sharp.

 

Natalie Sharp a clear winner of the u17 girls 3mile race from clubmate Michelle Bell and with Samantha Kelly 5th, Kilbarchan were 1st team. It was a similar picture in the under 17 mens race with Callum Hawkins a good winner, Andrew McAlpine an excellent 2nd and Blair Crawford 5th for another team victory.

 

Katie McAlpine a great run to finish 2nd in the u15 girls race and girls won the team title with Sorcha Lynch 4th and Emma Haddock 6th. A 1-2-3 ensured the team title for Kilbarchan in the u15 boys 2mile race with a good victory for Graham Evans ahead of Thomas McDonald and Calum Macleod 3rd.

 

Vanessa Hogan won the u13 girls 2mile race by a distance and in the under 13 boys, Kilbarchan were 3rd team with Russell Mountford 3rd individual, supported by Kieran Hards and Kerr Bilsland. Gwen Gillham won the Renfrewshire clubs u11 race and the girls were 2nd team with Gwen supported by Abogail Reilly and Jenna Howie and it was also 3rd team medals for the under 11 boys with second placed Euan Gillham backed by Gregor Wylie and Alan Sharp.
