| Glasgow Half Marathon - Sunday 25 September 2008 by Lesley McKerral |
| Oh well, at least I finished it! That has got to be one of the worst races I’ve had. One of the highlights was meeting Sandra, Richard, Mags and John McL. at the start, and of course giving Sir Jimmy a big wave.
Then we were off up the hill, (yes, there were loads of hills this year) up St. Vincent Street and snaking around the streets of Finnieston on to the motorway. Then that long slog up to Bellahouston Park where at mile 5 I saw a few friends out in support so another wee boost.
Then out of the park, along the road and in to Pollok Park this time. Caroline caught me up, said “hello” and seemed to be going well. Where did all these hills come from? On I went, passed my Mum and Dad (not running, but supporting), shouted “hello” to Robert, and out of the park on to the streets of the south side.
At this point, I was feeling really bad and did think about chucking it, but on I continued just determined to finish. And finish I did, in a time of 1 hour 52minutes, a full 5 minutes slower than last year, but as I said at the beginning, at least I got to the finish line and I’m thankful for that! Lesley McKerral |
