| Lochwinnoch 6 mile Road Race - Saturday 14 June 2008 by Michael Finlay |
I arrived at the Lochwinnoch Road Race like a bag of nervous but was looking forward to it. My aim was to go for 2nd place and first was a bonus. The Race started at 2:30pm when the nerves kicked in. When the whistle went there was a group of four then by the first corner it went down to 2 people we went on ahead staying together then the first hill came up and Colin from Irvine slowed down so I slowed with him not making the mistake to go of too fast. I stayed with Colin for the first half then when we got to the turning point to go back up the hill I started to work hard pushing the pace and working it on the down hills. Donald then was cycling with me saying that the Colin was 2 minutes behind me and to slow down but still kept the pace going until I came to the top of the hill then looked back and Colin was not in sight so I slowed down then. I finished the 6miles in the time of 35mins 50secs. It was a good feeling running down to the finish line knowing you have won it. Thanks to all at Kilbarchan who supported me and to Donald and Derek for supporting me on the day Sorry it so short anything else guys you want to know just ask. Michael Finlay |
