Troon 10k - Wednesday 7 May 2008 by Michael Finlay

I was heading down with John K, Katrina K, Nan and Ian. We left John's house about 5:45pm and got there just about 6:30pm ready to get our numbers and Timing chips. I met a few Kilbarchan runners before the start. I started with Gordon and along side him was Robert (Not along side me as he was in a mood with me because I put a learners sign on the roof of his car.  I meant no harm.)

I think I started too far up the front but when I got going I was going faster than what I had planned to run. When I was out there I got in to a stride which was comfortable with me. I think it's good starting up the front cause you get a good start but have to hold the pace for a longer time. I felt good through out the run but towards the end I got a bit faster.

I put in my sprint finish at the end when I passed two people and then finished in a PB of 37mins 28secs and out of 958 people I was 39th overall.

My time last year was 37mins 40secs  I hope to improve on my time and get better by the end of this year which I'm sure I will manage. Just to say well done to Robert Connell for completing Belfast City Marathon in 4hrs 11mins 10sec under 4hrs next time Robert.

Thanks to John K for giving me a lift down much appreciated.
