Hayley Haining showed herself to be in fine form when finishing 3rd and first Brit in the Womens race in the Glasgow ˝ Marathon, which also counts this year as the UK Championships. Hayley’s time of 71 minutes 28 seconds is close to her best and indicates that her preparation is going well for coming events which include the Great North Run and then the big one, the New York Marathon on 2nd November. Also prominent in the Ladies race was Leanne Hamilton who finished 15th in 81 minutes 28 seconds.

In the associated Glasgow 10K race, there was a good run from Calum Morrison who finished 7th

in 34minutes 22 seconds.

Although the Track and Field season is nearly finished, there have been some top performances recently. At the weekend, Andrew Cunningham competed in the Pitreavie Trophy Meeting, winning 2 Gold and one Bronze medal in the under 15s age group, all with personal best performances. Andrew beat his own club record in wining the Discus with 38.85m, won the Long Jump with 5.70m and then was 3rd in the 200m final,

 timed at 24.98 seconds.

Kilbarchan Club Championships are in progress at the moment and last week, Claire Gibson, fresh from her successful defence of her Scottish 800m title, moved up in distance to win the club 1500m in a club record of 4 minutes 23.0 seconds. Andrew Cunningham won the under 15 boys Discus in a then Club record of 38.57m, which he beat again at Pitreavie.
