It was a successful day for Kilbarchan Athletic Club at Irvine Moor on last Saturday with an impressive turnout, nearly 60 members competing in the West District Cross Country Championships

 

            There was another superb run for Callum Hawkins, winner of the Liverpool UK Challenge the previous weekend, taking the West District under 17 cross country title in convincing style, and leading his team to the title with Andrew McAlpine, improving with every race, finishing 4th, and Scott MacAulay supported well in 11th place.

 

            The Kilbarchan women continued their brilliant season, winning the Senior Women's West team title for the first time, with Elspeth Curran 4th, Leanne Hamilton 5th and Natalie Sharp 7th.  In the under 20 womens sub category, Kilbarchan were second with counters Elspeth, Natalie and Jessica Martin. The club had 10 women competing in the race, which was very encouraging.

 

            The Kilbarchan Men were 2nd team, the 6 to count being Conor McNulty 6th, Robert Quinn 7th, Derek Hawkins 9th, Paul Leck 11th, Nick Emsley 33 and James Snodgrass 34, with Robert also fastest Veteran. Kilbarchan were also top Veterans team with Robert, James and Donald Petrie .. and also top u20 team with Conor, Derek and Paul. 

 

            There was an individual Bronze for Kirsty Harper, 3rd in the u13 girls race and leading the team including Gwen Gillham and Sapphire LeSage to Silver medals.

 

            The u13 boys team of Euan Gillham, Rorie Tracey and Callum Matthews won Bronze team medals, as did u15 boys team of Russell Mountford, Craig Haxton and Matt Wild and also the u15 girls team of

Kate Gillies, Elaine Eadie and Jenny Eadie.
