| The Alan Scally Road Relay race last Saturday, also counted as the Scottish Universities Relay Championships and Kilbarchan athletes contributed significantly to the overall as well as to the University results.
The host club, Shettleston Harriers easily won the Men's race, 4x4.7miles, with Strathclyde University in second place and winning the University Championship, the team including 3 Kilbarchan runners, Ross Toole, Paul Leck and Conor McNulty. Second University and 3rd overall was Edinburgh ahead of Glasgow University who had Derek Hawkins on the first leg and who ran the fastest time of the day by a Kilbarchan athlete, 23minutes 27 seconds which was also the fastest time by a University athlete.
The Universities dominated the Women's race filling the first 4 places, with Edinburgh first ahead of Glasgow, who had Elspeth Curran on the first leg. Glasgow B team which included Jessica Martin, finished 3rd and Edinburgh B team were 4th, also including a Kilbarchan athlete, Christina Rankin. First club team to finish, was the actual Kilbarchan club team. Despite so many girls competing for strong University teams, the trio of Louise Manson, Lorraine Gribben and Lynsey Curran did a fine job to finish 5th.
