| Claire Gibson retained her National 800metres title at the Scottish Championships at Pitreavie at the weekend. It was another outstanding run by Claire, who despite having no one to press her, recorded a time of 2 minutes 2.23seconds, just 2/100ths of a second outside her recently set club record.
Holly Belch earned her first major title when she won the 100m Hurdles in 14.86 seconds having recorded 14.81s in the heat and Holly also won Silver in the 400m Hurdles, smashing her best with a time of 61.22 seconds, just 0.1 seconds outside Elaine McLaughlin’s 25 year old club record.
There was also Gold for the under 15 girls 4x100m Relay team, winning in the outstanding time of 51.68 seconds, which smashed another long time Kilbarchan club record going back to 1988. The winning quartet was Corinne Brooks, Frances Campbell, Cara Butler and Sarah Glenny and mention also of Pamela Dunbar who was part of the team in the qualifying heat.
There was also a superb club record for Martin Lipton, 2nd in the 400m Hurdles in 52.26 seconds and Craig Fleming was 2nd in the 200m in 22.10s. David Watson was 2nd in the Triple Jump with a good effort of 14.85m and Kilbarchan clubmate Cameron Clark equalled his best with 14.31m which earned the Bronze medal.
Elsewhere, Leanne Hamilton was second woman in the East Kilbrde ½ marathon,in a Personal Best time of 81 minutes 21 seconds and Tom Hearle was 3rd in the Pollok 5K race.
The Kilbarchan Ultra men were also out at the weekend, competing in the West Highland Way race, setting off from Milngavie at 1am on Saturday morning to compete over the 95 miles to Fort William. Neal Gibson finished a superb 7th, in 18hrs 42mins, a Kilbarchan club record while John Kynaston in 13th place, set a personal best of 19hrs 51mins 59secs for this gruelling race.
