| The under 15s and under17s National Championships and also the Senior National Relay Championships were staged at Grangemouth last weekend with some fine results for athletes representing Kilbarchan Athletic Club.
A young Women's team, all under 20, won the Senior Women's 4x400metres Relay Championship, smashing the club under 20s record in the process, The quartet of Holly Belch 19, Michelle Bell 18, Natalie Sharp 18 and Debbie Henderson 17, were clocked at 3 minutes 59.36 seconds, a time particularly impressive in the windy conditions. The quartet then completed a successful day by taking Bronze medals in the 4x100metres relay.
In the under 17 Men's Championships, Connor Henderson won the 400m Hurdles in 56.40 seconds and was also a finalist in the 400m flat where he finished 5th. In the High Jump, Jack Lochans just missed Gold with a fine clearance of 1.80metres and Graham Evans also won Silver, in the 1500m steeplechase, time 4 minutes 44.68 seconds. In the Throws, Andrew McLaughlan was second in the Shot ( 14.36m), with Andrew Cunningham taking third place (12.90m). For the under 17 girls, Hazel Ross won Silver in the 80metres Hurdles, time 11.93 seconds.
Adrian Mendez-McVeigh was a good winner of the under 15 boys 400metres in a time of 55.14 seconds. The under 15 girls sprinters were impressive with Frances Campbell and Sarah Glenny providing class performances. Sarah grabbed Silver in the 200metres in 26.90 seconds with Frances third, also in 26.90 seconds, that means only an inch or so between them. In the 100metres final, Frances just had the edge, taking the Bronze medal in 12.87 seconds to Sarah’s 12.90 seconds.
