| Kilbarchan Athletic Club finished 4th in the Scottish Young Athletes League Final at Grangemouth last weekend and although a little disappointing, there were a number of fine performances which are encouraging for the future..
Two Athletes of the Match awards were won, both in the under 15 boys category. Rising sprints star David Kerr smashed the club record and the League record for the 400m with a superb run which was timed at 52.12 seconds and Andrew Cunningham, who is emerging as one of Scotland's top Throws prospects, won the Shot with a splendid effort, measured at 13.09m, which is a personal best.
There were also wins for Callum Hawkins in the under 17s 1500m, Stephen Fleming in the under 17s 3000m and there was a double success for another Throws prospect Andrew McLaughlan who won the under 17s Hammer (45.53m) and the Shot (14.42m).
On the roads, Paul Arcari continued on his winning ways, last weekend it was the Nairn ½ marathon which he won in 60 minutes 57 seconds.
David Watson has been doing well on the Highland Games circuit. David from Paisley, is the Kilbarchan club record holder for Long Jump and Triple Jump and at the Crieff Highland Games he won the High Jump, Long Jump and Triple Jump, having also won the Triple Jump at the Bridge of Allan Games with an impressive 45 feet 2 inches on a grass track.
Also congratulations to Jessica Martin and Christina Rankin who have been selected for the Scottish under 20s women's team for the World Mountain Running Championships, to be held in Switzerland next month.
