| The Indoor Athletics season got under way at the weekend with the Schools International Pentathlon competition at the Kelvin Hall on Saturday and the first Indoor League meeting, at the same venue on Sunday.
Andrew Cunningham from Gryffe High School, was selected for the Saturday International and Andrew finished top Scot, 8th overall, in the under 16 boys competition. His score of 2772 points is a Kilbarchan club record and Andrew also had the satisfaction of setting 3 Personal Bests, in the 60m Hurdles with a time of 9.55 seconds, the Shot with 13.30m and the 800m timed at 2.21.99s. His other performances were 200m in 25.17s and Long Jump 5.30m.
On Sunday, at the first Indoor League meeting, Kilbarchan athletes produced some fine performances. Perhaps the best was by Mark Chisholm who smashed the club under 20s 60m sprint record, winning in 7.27 seconds.
Other winners included Hazel Ross who cleared 1.60m, a PB, in the under 17 women's High Jump, Frances Campbell 8.51s for the under15 girls 60m, and in the under 17 men's category, David Kerr 7.52s for the 60m and Andrew McLaughlan 13.90m for the Shot. Hazel was also 2nd in the u17 women's 60mH in 9.43s and Frances was 2nd in the u15 girls 200m in 28.8s.
Under 17 Men's and Women's teams both finished 2nd in their categories.
