| There was another fine performance from Callum Hawkins at the England Athletics Championships at Birmingham at the weekend. The Kilbarchan athlete has been in top form recently and at Birmingham he won Bronze in the under 17 men's 3000m in 3 minutes 48.50 seconds which was another fine effort.
Also at Birmingham, in the under 15 boys 400m, there was an excellent 5th place for David Kerr in 53.25 seconds, which was a super performance against the best in Britain.
Kilbarchan athletes were also down at Derby at the weekend, representing Scotland in the inter area competition. Craig Fleming, who also represents Harrow, was 2nd in the 100m in 10.74 seconds and also 2nd in the 200m in 21.46 seconds. Conor McNulty was 2nd in a tactical 3000m, time 8.52.73 and Cameron Clark won the Triple Jump B competition, clearing 13.73m.
The Kilbarchan club also had a big contingent at East Kilbride for the final Division One meeting of the Central and South of Scotland League where they won convincingly to retain the Division One Trophy which they won last year. All details are not available yet but winners included, for the Senior Women, Holly Belch 100m, Natalie Sharp 800m, Triple Jump Karen Yule and both 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams.
For the men, David Watson won the Long Jump and both relay teams were also winners. For the under 17 women, Sally Webster won the Discus and Heather Ross the 300m Hurdles and for the under 17 men Blair Crawford won the High Jump, Connor Henderson the 400m Hurdles, Andrew McLaughlan the Discus and again both relay teams were winners. James Quinn was the class act for the under 15 boys winning the 100m and 400m and anchoring the 4x100m relay team to victory. For the under 13 boys, Adrian Mendez-McVeith was a find, winning the Discus and Shot events.
Away from the track, Kilbarchan's Hill runners were in action at Cairngorm, competing in the Scottish Trials for the World Mountain Running Championships which take place in Switzerland next month. There was another terrific performance from Jessica Martin, who finished a close second in the Junior Women's race and team-mate Christina Rankin also had a fine run to finish 3rd.
On the roads, Paul Arcari was winning yet again, this time winning the Isle of Mull ½ marathon in 68 minutes 23 seconds.
