Kilbarchan Athletic Club were top performers in the Renfrewshire County Cross Country Relay Championships at Bellahouston Park at the weekend, winning both Men's and Women's events as well as junior races.


They repeated their West District success in the Women's 3x4K race, the trio of Elspeth Curran, Christina Rankin and Elaine Eadie, winning in 45 minutes 41 seconds with Elspeth having the fastest lap time of 14.13.


The men also led from the start, with Robert Quinn, folowed by Andrew Dearie, Paul Leck and Chris Devenney, team time 53.06, with Chris the fastest of the day, 13.09.


Kilbarchan won the 3x2.5K under 17 boys race, Charlie Wighton, Callum Matthews and Tom Murray winning time 26.19, with Giffnock North winning the girls race.


Kilbarchan also won both under 15 races, the boys team of Cameron Dickson, Euan Trout and Ewan McKerral winning in 27.27 with their B team of Connor Thomson, Fraser Auld and Aiden Comerford 4th. The girls team of Kerry MacAngus, Rebecca Craig and Jemma Reekie, were good winners in 30.30 with their B team of Emma Kelly, Catriona Allan and Emma Fulton, also medalling in 3rd place.


Inverclyde AC won the under 13 boys race with the Kilbarchan team of Josh Hendry, Fergus Higgins and Andrew MacAngus 2nd and the girls under 13 team of Rona Tytler, Eve Griffiths and Heather Fawcett were also third, the event won by Giffnock North AC.

Elsewhere, Gemma Rankin had a super run at the Amsterdam Marathon .. see below extract from Scottish Athletics website

Gemma Rankin delivered a fine run in the Amsterdam marathon to move into third in the Scottish rankings for 2012.
The Kilbarchan AAC athlete clocked 2:41:57 in Holland with a run that takes her to 18th in the all-time list.


And Gemma’s time isn’t far short of the 2:40 standard being asked from Scottish women for the Commonwealth Games at Glasgow 2014.
