Hundreds of youngsters descended on Linwood last week, to represent their schools at the annual Renfrewshire District Schools Road Race Championships.

 

            Primary winners included .. P6 girls Bethany Craig, P7 girls Maisie Huey, both Bridge of Weir ; P6 boys Callum Carswell St Fillans, P7 boys Euan Taylor Houston.

 

            Secondary winners were .. S1 girls Bethany Craig, S2 girls Emma Kelly, both Gryffe Hs, S3 girls Sarah Dempsey Gleniffer HS .. S1 boys Conor Thomson Gleniffer HS, S2 Boys Euan Trout, S3 boys Euan Gillham, both Gryffe HS.

 

            The Scottish 4K Cross Country Championships and Glasgow Development 2K races were staged at Bellahouston Park at the weekend.

            The Kilbarchan Athletic Club girls again starred, with the under 13 group clear winners of their team event, led by Laura Stark leading from the start for a clear victory, followed home by Rebecca Craig in 2nd place, Kerry MacAngus 6th and Maisie Huey 11th.

            There was also a fine run for 2nd place for Emma Kelly in the under 15 girls race and Conor Thomson worked well for his 3rd place in the under 13 boys race.

 

            In the 4K Scottish Championship race, Kilbarchan finished just out of the medals in the Women's race, finishing 4th, led by Natalie Sharp 9th, backed up by Christina Rankin and Nynke Mulholland.
