Christmas Handicap Race - Monday 20th December 2010

For this year's race I (John Kynaston) taken over the Handicap responsibilities.  We are going to try an different system. Thanks to Richard Beall I have a spreadsheet which will take a recent race (say a 10k) work out the average pace, use Riegal's formula and work out what time you should finish the 4.2mile Handicap race in.

This will then be the basis for working out your handicap.  I have gone through recent races (parkruns, 10k's, previous Christmas Handicap races etc) and have a number of handicaps sorted.  But if you would like your handicap based on your current fitness then please email me (jkynaston00@hotmail.com) your race and time and I'll see what I can do!

Don't worry you can enter on the night but it will save time to have as many as possible sorted before the race.

Thanks

John Kynaston

Summary of the weekend

It was a spectacular day at Cumbernauld last Saturday and good day for the Club winning Silver Medals in the Senior Women’s and the Boys races at the National Cross Country Relays Champs

A fine performance from the ladies team (West Champions) of Natalie Sharp, Christina Rankin and Elspeth Curran, with Elspeth running the fastest lap of the day, 14.22 for the 4K circuit.

It was 2nd place, unbelievably for the 4th year in a row, a remarkable statistic .. maybe the top spot next year.  Race was won by Dundee Hawkhill Harriers with Fife AC 3rd.

The boys were 2nd in the West but this time, the trio of Scott McLardie, Callum Matthews and Russell Mountford, beat West champions Giffnock into 3rd place though finishing behind VP Glasgow. Still a fine effort to be second.

The girl’s trio of Katie Turnbull, Gwen Gillham and Kate Gillies were 7th anf the Mens team of Paul Leck, Conor McNulty, Stephen Fleming and John NcMillan were 14th. The Vets team of James Snodgrass, Robert Quinn, Donald Petrie and Donald Kennedy, just missed medals, finishing 4th.

Elsewhere young Andrew MacAngus competed at the Giffnock North Schools Invitation and won the P6 race, representing Bridge of Weir PS.
