Kilbarchan racing during the summer

Charlie (pictured left) ran the Independence Day 5k Run in North Orlando on Saturday 4th July 2010. It was 7.30 in the morning and was 81 degrees.  Charlie ran well and was 120th out of 2,700 in race.  It was really humid and Charlie was a liquid ball at the end.  Photo below includes his sister Abbey, who is about to join the Harriers who was first girl in junior race.

A week later Charlie ran another 5k in the early evening at National Athletics Centre in Florida.  This time it was a baking 93 degrees and Charlie was cooking.  He finished 10th out of 120.

Charlie  and Owen took part in the Inverclyde biathlon at Gourock outdoor pool.  A blustery morning both boys had decent swims over 400m but both gained big places in 3k run to finish 5th (Charlie first U15) and Owen 6th (first U13).

Congratulations to Heather Fawcett

On Saturday 7th August Heather (u11's athlete) took part in the National Youth Triathlon Championships at Bellahouston Park in Glasgow.

Following a poor swim it looked very unlikely that Heather would be in medal contention but a good effort in the cycle clawed back a few places.  At the start of the run Heather was still well down the field but with great determination she picked her way through the girls in front and finished the event with a Bronze medal (only 4 seconds behind the Silver medal place and 19 seconds off winning the Gold.  Most of all she had lots of fun at her first Triathlon attempt.
