Congratulations to u13 girls 1st team Kilbarchan, finishing off the winter season undefeated in team events .. Great run for Bronze medal by Laura Stark and solid support from Rebecca Craig 9, Iona Miller 11, Kerry MacAngus 12 ..
u15 boys 1st team Kilbarchan with a fine Bronze medal for Callum Matthews, well supported by Euan Gillham 4 and Gavin McArdle 8 ..
u13 boys and u15 girls both 5th in their team competitions ..
Elsewhere, Claire Gibson won the Women's race at the Clydebank 5K Road Race yesterday.

Congratulations to the SAIL teams and relay teams today.
They tried their hearts out and were rewarded with ...
a bronze medal for the Under 20 Women (with Judith McNicol in outstanding form), a silver medal for the Under 11 Boys (Andrew MacAngus a convincing winner yet again) a gold medal for the Under 20 Men (with wins for Andrew Cunningham in LJ and SP and Blair Crawford in HJ 2nd places for Stephen Fleming (800m), Ross McGill (60m) and Andrew Cunningham (60m Hurdles) and more useful points from James Quinn (200m), Jordan Bradie (Triple Jump) and Blair Crawford (400m)).
In the relays the Under 15 Boys reached the final and finished 4th. The other teams all ran well bur were just edged out of qualifying from the heats.

The Scottish National Road Relay Championships are taking place on Sunday 3rd April 2011 at Livingston for teams of 6 Men or 4 Women and legs of 3.3 miles or 5.9 miles.
If any athletes would like to ensure they are entered please let Donald Petrie or Christina Rankin know.

Club Cross Country - Saturday 26th February 2011 Milliken Estate venue same and trail similar to last year ..
Our own Club Championships so a chance for everybody, all abilities to run .. .. for all age groups .. .. for those not used to cross country, have a go .. some say, this is the real sport (!?)
Same start for all .. 1pm.
Max will have Park Pavilion open for 11.30am and can direct people to the venue .. or go direct .. but ..
Please note, there might not be running water in the Pavilion which would mean no toilets or washing/showering ..
We will give numbers to the u11s .. otherwise no entries, no numbers .. just line up and GO ..
NB .. limited parking at the venue .. field used last year is very wet .. maybe ok for some 4WDs but we suggest leave cars around Kilbarchan /Brookfield and walk (!?!). NO parking on or adjacent to the Main Rd ..
Come and have a wonderful time running through the mud and tiptoeing round the snowdrops ..

At the Irish Juvenile Indoor Championships in Belfast, a number of medals were won .. u17 High Jump .. 1st Corinne Brooks .. u14 60m Hurdles .. 2nd Victoria Cleer .. u17 50m and 200m, 2 Bronze medals for Frances Campbell
At the 2nd SAIL meeting at the Kelvin Hall .. u20s 60m club record smashed by Ross McGill, who won in 7.15s .. Other winners included .. u20 Men .. Shot Andrew Cunningham .. 60m Hurdles Connor Henderson . .. u20w 60mHurdles Judith McNicol .. u11boys 600m Andrew MacAngus. It was team gold for the u13 girls with Katie just ahead of Rebecca Craig and good support from Iona Miller and Jemma Reekie .. the first time the club has won this major award.

Congratulations to those who ran in the Scottish Masters Cross-Country Championships on Saturday 5th February 2011 at Kirkcaldy.
Robert Quinn (above) won the race overall by 19 seconds and was also first M45. This was Robert's 11th National Cross country title across all the age groups since he started competed with National Youths (under 17) title in 1983 in Edinburgh
Other Kilbarchan runners were Donald Petrie (27th), James Snodgrass (44th), Ian MacDougall (50th), Dave Mewse (87th) and Stevie Hards (97th).

Confirming last weekend's results
Outstanding was Elspeth Curran's strong run to retain her Scottish 4K Cross Country title at Bellahouston Park. in convincing style. Fine run also from Natalie Sharp 3rd and Christina Rankin 7th, to win the team award. Robert Quinn won the Vets award in the Men's race.
In the associated Glasgow development races for young athletes, it was a 2-3-4-7 for the Kilbarchan u13 girls with Laura Stark 2nd place ahead of Iona Miller, Rebecca Craig and Kerry MacAngus, to easily win the team award.
u15 girls, top team with Gwen Gillham 2nd, backed up by Kathryn Lee 7, Sarah Dempsey 10, Jennifer Hanlon 11. u13 boys top team with Scott McLardie 4th, supported by Conor Thomson 6, Conor Toal 8, Ryan Nesbit 12.
.. and we had runners at the (delayed) Jogging Buddies races at Barshaw Park with youngsters Heather Fawcett, Rona Tytler, Lewis King and others prominent.

Congratulations to some of the younger members turned out on Sunday 30th January 2011 for the Jogging Buddies postponed Jingle Bell 5k and 1k at Barshaw Park.
First to go was U11 Heather Fawcett in the 5k. A good start set the trend for the whole run and Heather came home 1st female and 3rd overall with a PB of 21:35.9 and a prize of 6 months membership for the Renfrewshire Leisure Club!
Next to go was Rona & Claire Tytler, Lewis King and Isla Fawcett in the 1K. After a great run Rona was 1st overall and Lewis was 2nd overall and 1st boy.
All the kids had a great morning (even though it was extremely chilly!!) and had plenty of energy to play on the Gym Bus after the event!

Some more good performances at the weekend from Kilbarchan junior athletes.
At the Garscube Harriers Schools Cross Country races at Mugdock Country park Rona Tytler was 2nd in the Primary 7 Girls race and Katrina Miller was 2nd in the Primary 5 Girls race. Good turnout for these races even in the slippery conditions.
No official results available yet but P7 race won by Holly Little of Victoria Park, Glasgow.

Interdistrict Cross Country Races at Edinburgh on Saturday 8th January 2011
Congratulations to Derek Hawkins who won the Scottish Interdistrict Cross Country title.
Derek was also representing GB under 23/u20 team in the International competition and he finished 22nd, top man in his team, time 26.49, a fine performance against top European and American competition.
Also terrific performance from Callum Matthews, 3rd in the under 15 boys Interdistrict Championships, same time as the winner, 8min 23sec, with Euan Gillham just one second behind in 4th and Gavin McArdle 5th.
Other top places were Gwen Gillham 5th and Ist West runner in the u15 girls race, Callum Hawkins 2nd West runner in the Men's race, Scott McLardie 6th and 3rd West runner in the under 13 boys, Katie Turnbull 7th and 4th West, Laura Stark 9th and 5th West for the under 13 girls.

Nigel Barge 10k Memorial Road Race - Saturday 8th January 2011
Due to the weather and specifically the poor underfoot conditions the Nigel Barge 10k Memorial Road Race (and associated 3k Junior Race) will not go ahead as advertised this coming Saturday 8th January. Both events have been postponed, and will instead take place on Saturday 5th March 2011 with the venue still Garscube Sports Complex. Please accept our apology but after consultation with the estate we have taken the decision for the following reasons:

A busy few days with some fine performances ..
Donald Petrie retained his Marshall Moor title on Monday 27th December 2010, a snowy, misty day .. a rare success for Donald over Robert Quinn, with James Snodgrass third .. 13 runners, age group records by Scott McLardie and Rebecca Craig ..
Donald Crawford Cup on Friday 31st December 2010 had 16 entries + 2 boys and 1 girls relay team. Result was a convincing victory for Garry Rankin with Donald Petrie just edging out Robert Connell for 3rd place .. Cara Sloss 1st lady in 6th place .. Garry's time of 59.30 is a club u20s record ..
Ross McGill was in great form at the annual New Year Sprint meeting at Musselburgh race course .. Ross entered the 60m handicap and off 2metres, won in 7.46seconds. Ross was also second in the 90m Handicap,
And Beith Harriers had their Annual Road Races on Sunday 2nd Januarty 2011 with some top results .. It was a 1-2 for the u11 girls with Rona Tytler winning from Heather Fawcett .. and a 1-2-3 for the u13 girls with Iona Miller winning from Laura Stark with Rebecca Craig 3rd.
There were 2nd places for Andrew MacAngus in the u11 boys race and also for Conor Thomson in the u13 boys race. Kathryn Lee was 3rd for the u15 girls and Nynke Mulholland 3rd in the Senior Womens race.

Training - Monday 3rd January 2011
There will be no under 11s training tonight Monday 3rd January 2011. The sports centre is closed. Under 11 training will resume Monday 10th January 2011.
There will be a Fartlek session as normal from Elderslie Baths BUT PLEASE NOTE the Baths are not open so no changing rooms/toilets available. Meet at 7pm outside the Baths.
