The team have chosen Alzheimer’s Scotland as their charity and are hoping to raise as much as possible through a variety of fundraising events.

What a hectic few days, fine performances all around GB ..

Congratulations to Alison Rodger, winning her first Senior GB vest, selected for GB and NI team for the Shot at the European Team Champs in Portugal this coming weekend.

Super performances at the Scottish Schools T&F Champs at Grangemouth at the weekend,

winning 18 medals.

Hazel Ross won the Westbourne Trophy for outstanding female Sprint Hurdles performance.

Connor Henderson won the George Duncan Trophy for the best male 400m Hurdles performance.

Congratulations for some fine performances at the weekend ..

National Junior League meeting at Grangemouth

Sally Webster, for Team Glasgow, beat her own Kilbarchan u20s Hammer record with 29.31m.

Holly Belch, for Sale Manchester, won the 400m Hurdles in a PB of 62.63s.

Central and South of Scotland League at Linwood.

The club finished 2^nd behind Ayr Seaforth AC ..some top performances in cool, windy conditions.

Results of CSSAL Match 2 Division 1

Judith McNicol a double winner for the Senior Women, Long Jump 4.59m and 100m Hurdles 18.6s.

Hazel Ross won the u17 womens 80m Hurdles in 12.7s.

Sarah Glenny, in her first race for the club, won the u15g 200m in 27.0 seconds

and Frances Campbell won the B race in 27.1 seconds

Conor McNulty won the Sen 1500m in 3.56.3, Paul Leck the B race and John McMillan the Vets event.

Also for the Senior men, Cameron Clark 3^rd in the High Jump (1.60m) and 3^rd in the Long Jump (6.24m)

while Craig Stewart as 3^rdin the 200m (22.6s).

For the under 17 men, Andrew Cunningham won the Shot (11.62m). Jack Lochans won the Triple Jump (11.09m) and Connor Henderson was first in the 100m Hurdles (16.0s).

Also produced some impressive 4x100m relay performances ..

u15 girls team, Corinne Brooks, Frances Campbell, Chelsea McDougall and Sarah Glenny in 53.7s.

17 men.. Jack Lochans, Andrew Cunningham, James Quinn and Connor Henderson in 47.2s

Senior Mens team of Mark Chisholm, Craig Stewart, Gary Stevenson and Cameron Clark time 44.3s.

On the roads, Paul Arcari won the Mull of Kintyre ½ marathon at Campbeltown in 70 minutes 58 seconds.

Sad news...

Our Honorary President Dr Lawrence Stewart died peacefully at home, last Tuesday after a short illness.

Lawrence and Helen Stewart were initially involved with the Club through their son Donnie, a star young sprinter in the late Seventies but who sadly, was killed in a motor accident. The Donnie Stewart Memorial Trophy was given to the Club by Dr and Mrs Stewart, for annual competition, to be presented to the winner of the Clubs 100m Championship, first won in 1983 by Derek Ferguson and most recently, in 2008, by David Watson.

Lawrence and Helen continued their close interest in the activities of the club and a few years later, Lawrence was elected Honorary Vice President. Just last year, Lawrence was elected Honorary President, an honour of which he was very proud.

The funeral arrangements are Wednesday 27th May, 1pm at Woodside Crematorium and it is expressly wished no flowers and NO Black Ties, which is typical of Lawrence's philosophy of life.

There will be a collection taken for St Vincent's Hospice and the National Alzheimer's Society.

Sultran Trophy - Club 5miles handicap chase.

Confirming the date is Wednesday 10th June 2009..

Same format as last year, start and finish on the viaduct at Torr Road, Bridge of Weir,

out towards Kilmacolm on the cycle track and back.

First runner off at 7.30pm.

Race run in conjunction with Bridge of Weir Festival Week.

This is a popular club race, flat and suitable to all abilities.

Notice for Wednesday Road Runners .....

At the recent committee meeting, it was agreed that as from Wednesday 3rd June, for the summer, the Wednesday base should be at Kilbarchan park pavilion instead of Elderslie Baths .. meeting as usual at 7pm.

Please note that there might not always be a key holder available but despite this, it was agreed that the greater variety of run from Kilbarchan, would be preferred by most club road runners.

Mondays to continue at Elderslie Baths .

Hazel Ross smashed the 13 year old club u17w 80mHurdles record, winning time 11.79s

which ranks Hazel 2^nd in the UK.

Other winners at Grangemouth included Connor Henderson u17 400m 53.30s ,

Andrew McLaughlan Shot 14.74m, Adrian Mendez-McVeigh u15 boys 400m 56.30s.

Andrew McLaughlan also broke his own u17 men's Hammer record with a fine effort measured at 49.12m

Disappointingly, the club finished 7^th on the day.

Derek Brines and Stevie Hards were 1-2 at the Mallaig ½ marathon.

At the Neilston Pad race, Stephen Fleming won for the second year running, time 29.38,

Last weekend at the SWomens League ..

A fine start to the summer season by Hazel Ross, competing in the u17s age group ..

Hazel won the 80m Hurdles in 11.9s and the 300m H in 482.s, both very impressive performances .. and she was also 3rd in the High Jump, clearing 1.55m.

We are part of Team West who finished a very close 4th .

Conditions were pretty good and Donald reckoned it was as dry underfoot as he's seen it, although there were still some boggy bits.

Wednesday 29^th April from 6.30pm for our Spring Club Night.

The aim of the night is to meet with local clubs and their runners, introduce our products and our service, and thank you for your continued support by offering some special deals on the night. We will be offering:

We like to think we have plenty of support to offer clubs and it is one of our goals to give something back to the running community, so any events or support you require in the coming months can also be discussed.

Congratulations to those who competed at the Scottish Universities Championship

at Grangemouth at the weekend ..

Martin Lipton who won 400m Hurdles .. good early season time of 55.00s.

Also Claire McNicol 2nd in the 100mH and 400mH and Paul Leck 3rd in the 1500m.

Also congratulations again to those who ran in the David Cummings Trophy club

7ml handicap chase at Kilbarchan.

The winner was Joe Clayton, from Leanne Hamilton and Stevie Hards.

The fastest times were James Snodgrass 40.53, Leanne Hamilton 43.05, Stevie Hards 44.39

Dougie Biggart and some others are going to run round the David Cummings route on Wednesday, meeting at Kilbarchan park at 7pm.

For anyone who does not know the route, this could be a worthwhile recce for the race next Sunday.
