| Kilbarchan Athletic Club athletes provided some super results at the weekend in a variety of events across the country.
At the Dunky Wright Memorial 5K Road race at Clydebank, Claire Gibson won the Women's race in 17 minutes 16 seconds, a positive workout as part of her preparation to make the Scottish team for the Commonwealth Games in India later in the summer . Robert Quinn showed that he is still a power in the sport, winning the Veterans (over 40) award in 15.51.
Euan Gillham completed his domination of the under 13 boys age group over the winter season when he convincingly won The National Young Athletes Road Race Championship at Rouken Glen Park on Sunday, winning by around 100 metres in 8 minutes 27 seconds. There was also a deserved Silver Medal for Paul Leck, second in the under 20 mens 5K race in 15.28, with teammate Scott MacAulay running well for 5th place. Silver team medals were won by the under 13 girls trio of Gwen Gillham, Katie Turnbull and Caitlin McStay and also by the under 17 womens team of Elaine Eadie, Melissa McStay and Siobhan McStay.
Elsewhere, at the Alloa ½ Marathon, Robin Scott was first in the over 65 category in the excellent time of 1 hour 30 minutes 51 seconds, Fraser Williams was second in the Pollok Park 5K race in 17.01 with Donald first over 50 in 18.05 while John Kynaston completed the Hardmoors 55mile Ultra Race in 11 hours, 46 minutes, 10 seconds.,
