| Elspeth Curran won her first major Senior title when she won the Scottish 4K Cross Country Championship at Bellahouston Park last Sunday. Elspeth had won the Celtic International race for under 23 athletes in Antrim the previous weekend and was determined to do well in the Bellahouston event. The 20 year old from Langbank who is a Dentistry student at Glasgow University, moved into the lead before halfway and drove on, gradually increasing her lead to cross the winning line 70 metres clear, in a time of 13 minutes 21 seconds. Clubmates Kerry Lang and Cara Sloss were 9th and 12th, giving Kilbarchan 2nd team place, just behind Edinburgh AC.
This coming weekend, the Renfrewshire Road Race Championships are being staged at Greenock’s Battery Park on Sunday, the Scottish Universities Cross Country Championships are at Stirling on Saturday and the Scottish Veteran Harriers Cross Country Championships are at Forres, also on Saturday.
